In a world where there are new normals for online and in-person, meetings have transformed – or at least they should have.
For better or worse, meetings are crucial for teams to gather to exchange views, understand problems, figure out ways to overcome obstacles and innovate new solutions. But most meetings suck, and the rise of online connection has simply magnified the problem.
For many busy managers, leading group discussions well is not a natural skill. Their technical or subject matter expertise hasn’t prepared them to run weekly team meetings, retreats, or even daily stand-ups. Few have had good meeting leader role models, so the default position is to figure out an approximate agenda and wing it from there. With the rise of remote and hybrid meetings, it’s time to take it up a notch and ensure you’re getting the best engagement and focus from your people.
Lead Conversations that Count is an Award Winning practical guide to the critical ingredients that create meaningful connections, stronger relationships and trust within the team so you can do your best work. Taking just ten minutes to prepare using the COUNT framework will increase your confidence and ability to manage even the most gnarly topics or sort out challenging group dynamics in your next meeting.
More than ever, we need to make meetings matter and conversations count. Can you imagine feeling excited about scheduling a team meeting? How about holding meetings that participants can’t wait to attend? This doesn’t have to be a fantasy. Much needs to change, and this book shows you how.

About the Author
I’ve always been fascinated by maps, and through Brilliance Mastery, I’m like a modern-day cartographer. I help my corporate and organizational clients navigate their way from where they are now to where they need to be to achieve meaningful and measurable success. I help clients spark new insights and learning, foster collaboration and meaningful relationships, and build buy-in to take action. This is reflected in my passion for helping my clients make sense of the complexity and challenges they face.
I have more than 25 years of experience in the public and entrepreneurial sectors, with 15 of those years working in transformational leadership. With a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, I have worked on Wall Street, as a senior policy advisor in the Ontario government, and as a Director of Development for two of Canada’s most prestigious independent schools.
I have an insatiable curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning, with a highly interdisciplinary and holistic approach to problem-solving. I have trained extensively with CRR Global in Organizational and Relationships Systems Coaching and with Grove Consultants International in Strategic Visioning and am a certified Grove Team Performance Practitioner.
In my spare time, I read science fiction and am a member of The Riverdale Players, a community musical theatre troupe in my hometown of Toronto, ON. The organization raises funds to support at-risk children and provide teacher training in impoverished villages in Africa and in First Nations communities in Canada. I’m the mom of three amazing young adults and one fluffy, bouncy golden doodle.
